Challenge:
Choose a book and create a special edition version. Create the dust jacket, type set the text yourself, and hand make the book itself.
Solution:
This special edition cover design draws in the interest of readers both new to the story and those revisiting the tale. To the new reader, the unusual hieroglyphs sparks visual curiosity, but to an old fan, the symbols rekindle the memories of events in the story that these symbols signify. The font chosen for the title and author’s name was to mimic the hand written script that would have been used in that time period. The font is then continued on the drop cap of the chapters and then the Chaparral Pro is then utilized for the rest of the text.
